History of the house in Mikulov
The oldest preserved records about the house, or as the case may be about the piece of land on which the house is located, are dated 24 July 1847. The first preserved record about the house owners in the Land Books is of 1873. In that year, the property right in the value of 3.000 gold coins was registered in favour of Theresie Fehl, according to the contract of purchase.
It is obvious from the above mentioned, that the house construction must have taken place in the period of time between these two years. This fact is confirmed even by the municipal plans of 1826 and 1847, there is an unbuilt gap site on the place of the existing house. The construction must have taken place after 1847. Whether the first owner and also the builder really was Mrs. Theresie Fehl, is not obvious from the preserved entries. Mr. and Mrs. Engelsmann became further house owners in 1908.
The Jewish history of the house occupants finishes in 1933, when the house was bought by Mr. and Mrs.Salášek. From that time, even the oldest preserved drawings and the house survey are dated. A sad chapter in the house history was the year 1945, as the house was confiscated by the Czechoslovak State. According to the decision by the Settlement Authority, the property right was registered in favour of new Mikulov settlers in 1949. Thenceforth the modern history of the house begins.
